If it’s important, find a way. Last year, our If it’s important, find a way.

Last year, our 16 year old son started track.

For getting started later than most kids, he did ok but he didn’t really love the events he was doing.

This year he decided he wanted to be a jumper.

He did high jump during the winter and wanted to add long and triple for spring.

The season just started and yesterday was their first meet.

He hadn’t gotten the opportunity to practice the actual triple jump yet but he studied numerous YouTube videos to try to understand the form,
he worked out and trained the best he could,
and he visualized his jumps every day.

The night before the meet, he messaged his coach to ask if he could compete in triple jump, in addition to long, and his coach put him in.

Yesterday was cold and rainy and the meet went from about 8 am - 5 pm.

He could’ve chosen not to jump because it was so cold, wet and muddy, but he stayed focused on his goals.

He was committed and determined.

In his first meet, he placed 3rd in the triple jump (and also placed 2nd in long).

Placing was nice, but it was more about showing up and taking the leap (literally and figuratively 😉).

He could’ve told himself that he didn’t know enough or that he wasn’t going to be good enough because he didn’t have as much experience as others, but his desires were stronger than his fears.

He focused on what he could control and let everything else go.

It was important, so he found a way.

And even though I’ve been teaching and coaching for over 2 decades, I still learn from my kids every day and continue to be inspired.

I know someone else out there needs this reminder as well.

Don’t get caught up worrying about things outside of your control.

Don’t let your fears of not being good enough keep you from trying.

If it’s important, find a way. 💚
My daughter asked what I wore to the 80’s rock s My daughter asked what I wore to the 80’s rock soirée at Secret Knock this week so I showed her this pic.

She giggled and said I looked like Lady Legasus because my legs were so big. I’ll take that as a compliment.

Any other Teen Titans fans? 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
